HOOVER, AL (WBRC)- The Jefferson County coroner has released the name of the man shot to death Monday morning at an apartment complex in Hoover.

The coroner says Nicholas Taylor Schneider, a 23-year-old man from Hoover, was killed in the shooting. Hoover police responded to the shooting at The Ashford of Hoover Townhomes just before 8 a.m. Monday. Neighbors reported hearing five or six gunshots at the time.

Hoover Police Captain Jim Coker said the public was not in any danger after the shooting. Police have released few details surrounding the case so far.

Coker says that an adult male was taken into custody the day of the shooting, at the scene. This person was released from custody Tuesday afternoon. Coker adds that the Jefferson County District Attorney's Office needs more time to investigate the case prior to the filing of any charges.

Coker said Tuesday that Hoover detectives are also continuing to investigate.
