HOOVER, AL (WBRC)- A teacher at Rocky Ridge Elementary won't have to be spending out-of-pocket money on her classroom this year.

Teacher Deborah Blalock was awarded $1,000 worth of classroom supplies as part of the OfficeMax "A Day Made Better" advocacy program. Blalock was nominated based on "her caring attitude, dedication to her profession and her passion for children."

The program was created in cooperation with AdoptAClassroom.org to help ease the financial burden of teachers. According to "A Day Made Better," teachers spend $1,000 out of their own pockets per year on their classrooms.
