22 Alabama cities to hold April walking tours

MONTGOMERY, Ala. (AP) - The Alabama Tourism Department says 22 towns across the state will participate in the department's April Walking Tours.

The department's Brian Jones says more than 1,700 tours have been done since the program started 10 years ago. The free, hour-long tours of historic districts and courthouse squares will start at 10 a.m. on April 6, 13, 20 and 27.

Participating cities are Athens, Atmore, Birmingham, Butler, Courtland, Cullman, Decatur, Eufaula, Fairhope, Florence, Huntsville, Madison, Mobile, Monroeville, Montevallo, Montgomery, Phenix City, Prattville, Sheffield, Sylacauga, Tuscumbia and Wetumpka.

Annual Moss Rock Festival to be held Nov. 3-4 in Hoover

The Annual Moss Rock Festival this year will be held Saturday, Nov. 3 from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m. and Sunday, Nov. 4 from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. at The Preserve in Hoover. The one-of-a-kind outdoor fall festival, which focuses on regional art, design and environmental causes, welcomed 15,000 visitors to The Preserve in 2010.

Everyone is invited to come enjoy artists, eco-ideas partners featuring green living ideas, products, services and organizations, live music, engaging constructions and installations, a cake expo and tasting. Other features include hiking, 5K bike ride, geocaching, fuel-efficient car exhibitions, a café, and the great outdoors.

The festival is free. To participate in the Park & Ride services, visitors should park at Regions Park and ride one of the many free festival shuttles to the site.
